Take care of you!

Sounds selfish eh?

The old adage that you cannot pour from an empty cup rings true. After years of plodding on through anxiety, depression, stress and panic attacks, my head waved a little white flag. I had to take time out to concentrate on myself after my mind and thoughts had been hijacked. Mental health issues are all enveloping, taking over your thoughts, energy, relationships – your personality. I’d come undone!

Then in May 2018, I had a diagnosis of inattentive ADHD which helped to explain (in part) my life to date. I began a journey of self help and fighting back. 2018 was my year zero – my time to accept my past, spend more time in the present and move forward with my life.

I have learned a lot about myself and hope you will enjoy the journey as I progress – and maybe some of you progress with me.

  1. It hasn’t changed my life very much – but it has led to other family members being diagnosed. It did however offer me explanations for some of the behaviours that has always been part of my life eg forever looking for my purse/keys. I think I had managed to put a lot of my own strategies in place throughout my life to counteract many issues that ADHD caused me to have to deal with.
